Birthday Boy, Kerry

"It's your birthday today!" "No! It's not my birthday" "Yes, it is!" "No!"
"Don't you want to have a birthday party" "Sure! Let's go!"
"How old are you going to be?" "Five!" "Aren't you going to be three?" "No five!"
"Hi Birthday Boy!" "No, I'm not Birthday Boy! I'm Kerry!"

Aside from the contraversial debate surrounding this day... Today is Kerry's third birthday.
We've been trying to prep him for this day by getting him to respond appropriately to the inevitable question "how old are you today." However, he was never content to be only three. He would usually respond five, six, or sometimes even ten.

Well, Daddy and I have had several activities planned to make this day very special. Starting at 10:30 a.m. there would be music class at the library, followed by lunch, an outing to Toys R Us (the "Choo Choo Train store") with Grandma and PaPa Fox, a big movie at the theatre, back home for cake and presents, finally at 6:20 p.m. swimming lessons at the Y.
Perhaps, just the thought of such an ambitious schedule was just too much for a little guy just turning three. We'll never know... but, last night Kerry woke up crying shortly after going to sleep and ended up being sick most of the night. Poor little guy! We re-thought our schedule of events since everyone was running on only a few hours of sleep.

Kerry was feeling much better after breakfast sooooo....
First thing in the morning (10:30 a.m.) Kerry and Mommy went to the party store to buy some party supplies instead of music class. They had about every birthday party theme you could imagine from Blues Clues to Elmo, Spiderman to Hot Wheels. Kerry knew for sure what he did not want for his party plate, napkins, hats, etc. And when he found the Nascar plates with Dale Erhart's car he knew fod sure that was what he wanted. Ironically, the number on that car is 3. So, we picked up all the supplies we needed along with three balloons and we were headed to the grocery store to pick up the cake Daddy ordered yesterday. Of course the cake was also a race car theme.
When we got home we headed out for lunch with Grandma and PaPa Fox to Dr. Jazz. The main thing Kerry wanted here was blue ice-cream. Why don't I have my camera at times like this!! His face and shirt were covered with blue. And he loved every lick. Thank goodness PaPa had his camera.
We were still able to squeeze in a trip to Toys R Us and a movie ("Curious George") but, skipped swimming lessons.
Kerry reluctantly headed up to bed at 8:00 p.m. I did get a very cute picture of him finally asleep in his bed with a book tented over his face.

After a bit of a shaky start, our little boy turned three today. sniff sniff. I remember him digging into his little baby booty cakes at his first birthday party. Man, they really do grow up fast.

I'm getting a little break from the two boyz today. Papa and Grandma Fox have Kerry at their house for the weekend and Daddy is watching Kendall at home. I'm at St. Louis Bread Co. sipping and surfing.

Sometimes I think those two little guys are going to drive me crazy but, as soon as there gone (like to grandma's) I miss them like crazy.

So for my little break I decided to get by myself (in public ironically) and write a bit since I hadn't in such a long time. I need to just get in the habit of doing this every day.

Well, I'll start with Kendall...
He is such a cute little chubby guy. He smiles so easy and hardly every cries unless he wants his bottle or a nap. Yesterday his naps were kinda messed up because we had a play date in the morning at my friend Susan Mace's house. We're trying to get together with the kids at least once a month. That meant no morning nap, yesterday. Well he did fall asleep on the way home but woke up going into the house. Then he wasn't able to get to sleep and was crabby the rest of the afternoon.
Kendall really gets around pretty good for not being able to crawl yet. He's almost there though. He'll get up on his knees, start rocking, and sort of lunge forward toward some object that he wants to grab. He's so close.
I think Kerry was 6 1/2 months when he crawled. Kendall turned 7 months on the 9th.
Faron and I were walking around at the craft store last night with Kendall in the cart and Kendall looked at me and started talking, in his own language, and gesturing with his hands. I'm sure he was telling me something that he had just thought of. What I would give to understand baby talk. He was just so expressive.

Well, I think I'm going to leave SLBC. It's almost noon and starting to get a bit crowded.
I'll get more written later at home. Besides, my battery will probably die here pretty soon.

Doctor Day

Today Kendall had his 6 month doctor visit. I can't believe that he is already 6 months. Time really seems to be going by fast with this little one compared to Kerry. Well, Kendall is certainly thriving. Both his weight and height are at the 95%tile on the growth chart. In contrast Kerry was always closer to the 5th %tile. I keep saying that Kerry is going to be our quarterback and Kendall will be our linebacker. Otherwise, Kendall is just storing up so that he can keep up with his big brother this summer. Kendall's weight today was 21# and Kerry's weight was 29#.

Kendall has been having some weezing and congestion for the past couple months. The doctor thought that he may have a milk allergy so, we are going to try a different formula for a while and see if that helps at all. Poor little guy. I know how miserable I feel when I have a cold. Maybe, this will help the whole "sleeping through the night" issue, too. However, this has been going pretty well. Last night he went to bed so well at 7:30 p.m. and didn't wake up until 5 a.m. That's my kind of baby!

Well, I better go join the boys downstairs. I hear one of our favorite shows just coming on... Elmo's World. I think it's the one about how people eat. I've only seen this one 20 times or so.

Introducing 2 Boyz

This is the introductory post for my new blog that will primarily center around the stories of my two children, Kerry 2 1/2 yrs and Kendall 6 mo. I've never been good at putting pen to paper for journaling purposes but love the idea. I find that I send a bit of time each day e-mailing and surfing the web, so I thought this would be a great way to record some of the happenings (good and bad) of the two loves of my life.

You may wonder how I could possible find time to even write a paragraph with two little boys underfoot. Well, at the moment I'm keeping one eye on them as Kerry watches tv and Kendall spreads spanish/english learning cards all over the family room floor. I will just straighten up all the toys, again, after their both in bed. Aahh! Thank God for bedtime!
Actually, this is an unusual moment of calm in my home. If I couldn't actually see the boys I would wonder what trouble they were getting into. My postings may be short depending on how much time the little guys give me to write.

I think it will be extremely fun to look back and remember the things they do and say. My husband is always telling me things that Kerry says or reminding me of things that he did months ago and I've forgotten. I can't stand that I would forget such cute moments or even the frustrating ones (that we laugh at now).

So stay tuned for the exciting and crazy antics of my 2 Boyz!
